Posted April 10, 2019 16:20:00 When is the Sal’s Pizza in Sydney?
Yes, there is hope.
The fast food chain, which has struggled to make a dent in the lucrative Australian market since it was acquired by Pizza Hut, has been granted permission by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission to reopen in Sydney.
Sal’s Pizza is based in Adelaide, but will now open in Sydney as part of its expanded network of stores.
“Sal’s is an iconic Sydney icon and a cornerstone of our brand,” said Sydney-based Sal’s chief executive, Matt Leong.
The decision to re-open in Sydney was taken in May, but the first salami arrived just a month ago.
“The opening of Sal’s Sydney is an important step in ensuring that the brand continues to be the most recognised and trusted of its kind in Australia,” Leong said.
Sydney is a major Australian city, with a population of about 2 million.
The opening was welcomed by the NSW Government, who had urged Sal’s to keep opening in Sydney, and said it was an opportunity to attract more people to the area.
“Sydneys proximity to Sydney and the number of young people who travel to Sydney for work and study every day is the key to making the Sydney region a better place to live,” the State Government said.
“It is also the right thing to do for the community and businesses who depend on a thriving Sal’s network.”
