News24.com | October 30, 2018 | Posted October 30th, 2018 12:01:38The fast-food chain Pizza &s; Pizza has been announced as the latest brand to join the new TV channel TV5 and is looking to expand into the UK market.TV5 will be the official UK channel for Pizza &ing; Pizza, as well as a number of other brands including Paddy Power and Pizza Express.
It will be a premium channel, in line with the current UK licensing model.
Pizza &.; Pizza has around 10,000 restaurants in the UK, and is in the process of opening new restaurants across the country.
“This is exciting news for the UK and we look forward to joining the TV5 family,” Pizza &s; Pizza UK boss John McVay said.
“Pizza is a trusted brand and our brand is recognised around the world, so we are excited to have TV5 on board.”
The Pizza &ams; Pizza franchisee has previously signed up with BT Sport in the past, with the channel currently broadcasting the Rugby World Cup.
Pizzagate is the term coined by US conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to describe the internet-fueled, internet-based harassment campaign that was unleashed against women in the wake of the 2016 US election.
McVay added that the channel would be able to reach millions of people through TV5, which has been the largest pay-TV network in the country for the last three years.
“It’s a huge opportunity for Pizza, with a range of brands, and Pizza is the most recognised brand in the market,” he said.
The Pizza franchise is also keen to expand beyond UK, with McVays goal being to reach “the world’s most loyal fans around the globe”.
Pizza’s TV5 license extends for 20 years, with new deals signed up every year.
The channel will also feature exclusive content from a range the brand is currently developing, including a “Pizza Underground” show and a Pizza &aes; Pizza Club.
Pizza has also confirmed it will be launching a pizza restaurant in London, as part of the franchise’s expansion into the city.
“The UK market is a key growth market for Pizza,” McVey said.
“We are committed to making Pizza & amp; Pizza available in London and will work closely with our franchisee and our customers to deliver Pizza &.amp; Pizzagate-style coverage of the campaign.”
The network is currently set to launch on Tuesday, October 27, at 1pm (UK time), with an exclusive preview to follow on Tuesday at 1.30pm (GMT).
