A pizza shop is coming to the District.
The Pizza for the people store will be located in the Merchandise Mart at 1101 Pennsylvania Ave.
in Northeast Washington.
It will be operated by Pizza For the People founder John P. Smith and his son Michael, who are brothers.
The store will open in the coming months, with plans to open in January.
It will be one of a number of new restaurants that Pizza for The People will open, including one in the nation’s capital.
In December, Pizzeria Ristorante Del Cielo in Georgetown opened.
The Pizzerias in the capital will open as part of a larger initiative to expand the business and create jobs in the District and beyond, Piazza said.
Pizza For the people, which was founded in 2010 and employs more than 100 people, has been a popular spot for locals and tourists to sample Italian cuisine.
Pizzers and diners have also enjoyed a variety of food options.
For example, the restaurant offers sandwiches, salads, sandwiches and pizza, according to its website.
Pots and pans are also available, with prices ranging from $2.99 to $3.99.
